Overview

We are seeking an experienced independent contractor to support the execution of cybersecurity assessments across client technology environments. This role focuses on assessment execution, documentation, and analysis support under the direction of senior leadership. The position is well suited to someone who is comfortable working within a defined assessment methodology and contributing high-quality, factual work that supports downstream risk analysis and reporting.

Scope of Work

The Cybersecurity Assessment Support Consultant assists with the execution of client cybersecurity assessments by supporting information gathering, analysis, and documentation. Work is performed according to established assessment prompts, checklists, and workflows.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting cybersecurity assessments across client technology environments, including devices, accounts, networks, cloud services, and MSP-managed systems
  • Gathering, organizing, and normalizing assessment inputs such as interview notes, inventories, configuration evidence, screenshots, and exports
  • Drafting first-pass, factual observations describing current-state controls and practices
  • Identifying gaps, inconsistencies, or unclear responses requiring follow-up
  • Assisting with mapping observations to assessment categories and safeguard items
  • Maintaining clear, well-structured documentation to support internal review and final reporting

Engagement Details

  • Remote Independent contractor (U.S.-based)
  • Hourly engagement with variable workload depending on assessment volume
  • Initial workload expected to be part-time, with the ability to scale as needed
  • Engagement is subject to confidentiality and data-handling requirements

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of experience in cybersecurity, risk management, GRC, IT consulting, or a related discipline, with demonstrated hands-on experience supporting technology or cybersecurity risk assessments. They will have strong written communication skills and the ability to document technical and procedural observations in a clear, objective, and well-structured manner. The role requires comfort working with incomplete or evolving information, as assessment inputs are often iterative and refined over time. Candidates must be able to follow established methodologies and workflows while exercising sound professional judgment when interpreting evidence and identifying gaps. A high level of discretion and professionalism is essential, given the sensitive nature of the information handled throughout client engagements.
