Overview

We are seeking a part-time bookkeeper to join its team, and take responsibility for the following duties:

Maintains records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions; ensuring legal requirements compliance.
Develops system to account for financial transactions by following and sometimes creating bookkeeping policies and procedures.
Creates customer invoices, collects receivables and records receipts.
Pays vendor and contractor invoices by various electronic payment methods.
Reconciles credit card and banking accounts in accordance with corresponding statement and/or monthly periods.
Completes monthly revenue recognition for accrual accounting purposes.
Maintains historical records by filing documents.
Prepares financial reports on a weekly and monthly basis by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
Completes sales tax filings in appropriate jurisdictions.
Organizes and processes payroll twice per month.
Assists in forecasting and expense analysis efforts.
Prepares annual reporting for handoff to third-party accountant for tax preparation purposes and prepares and distributes year-end 1099s to contractors.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Collaborates with team members including the President, CFO, and team members outside of finance as needed.
This is a remote position working with team members primarily in New York, but also in California and Connecticut.  Our current bookkeeper works about 10 hours per week, but needs to transition out of the job due to some life changes / competing priorities and will provide training to the new bookkeeper to help ensure a smooth handoff.

Scribble runs programs both at its studios (located in Dobbs Ferry, NY and Kent, CT) and around the greater New York area in partnership with a variety of community centers and schools.

Scribble is a developmentally-based art program for children as young as eighteen months to adults. At our studios, everyone is an artist. We seek to build creativity as a life skill that will serve our students beyond the art studio.
