Overview

OTR Global’s Technology team has an established reputation for identifying market inflections ahead of consensus and is looking for a U.S.-based Reporter to join its global team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to efficiently develop new relationships with cybersecurity industry professionals and maintain those relationships over time. The primary responsibility of this position is conducting in-depth phone interviews with cybersecurity resellers, managed cybersecurity service providers and systems integrators to gauge current demand trends and factors driving changes. Clear and concise writing and communication skills are other important aspects of this role, as writing opportunities may be assigned overtime, contingent on the ability to deliver high-quality source interviews over time. Individuals will work closely with senior researchers in the team to provide relevant and timely marketplace intelligence. Candidates with previous experience in the technology industry are preferred. This is a telecommuting hourly position, and a unique opportunity to work with and learn from one of the most differentiated investment research companies in the securities industry.

OUR PRODUCTS

OTR aggregates, compares and contrasts extensive marketplace data and prepares research reports for institutional investors. Sources are interviewed via telephone, typically on a quarterly basis, which subsequently provides the basis for OTR reports. OTR's mission is to aggregate information from sources, compare it with expectations and look for dislocations or inflection points that provide investment opportunities for our clients.

Qualifications

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:  Background in the technology sector, researching, analyzing and/or writing about cybersecurity and technology trends; working as researcher or tech specialist, and knowledge of the financial industry and investment basics a plus.  Understanding of the key trends shaping the cybersecurity industry and leading security companies, and an ability to identify and articulate inflections in those trends.  The ideal candidate is persistent with networking and is able to develop and maintain industry relationships and engage contacts for recurring in-depth dialogue. An established network of contacts in the technology industry is a plus.  Exceptional communication and analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to “connect the dots” and clearly articulate research conclusions.  Strong organizational and project management skills, proactive thinking, ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and work under pressure; schedule flexibility a must.  Proven ability to work well within teams, self-motivated, showing initiative, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
