THE POSITION

The Virtual Senior Bookkeeper is a management-level position. The main function will be the management of complex clients in Quickbooks Online and Xero. This position will also be responsible for providing one-on-one support to clients and subordinate bookkeepers while maintaining their own list of clients.

This is a part-time, virtual position for an independent contractor who is available during normal business hours. The position is only open to US-based bookkeepers who are available for occasional conference calls during the workday. Those with other full-time positions that cannot provide time during the day to focus on this role should not apply. This is not an evenings-&-weekends position.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a meticulous, detail-oriented person who gets work done quickly and efficiently.  As a manager, the ability to be empathetic, ask the right questions, see the ‘big picture’ and troubleshoot errors are a must. This is not just a bookkeeping position; extraordinary communication skills and strong project management capabilities are required.

This position also demands a strong sense of professionalism, decorum, and discretion. Our final round of candidates will need to pass a skills assessment and will be asked to provide references that can speak to their work ethic and treatment of confidential information.

We are a women-owned, Brooklyn-based bookkeeping firm that specializes in bookkeeping for creative, non-profit, and service-based businesses. Our clients hire us to handle all aspects of their finances, which may or may not include payroll, sales tax filings, invoicing, bill-paying, budgeting and cash-flow forecasting, and everything else with a dollar sign on it.

We provide a flexible service to our clients and work to tailor our services to their individual needs.

We work exclusively in Quickbooks Online and Xero and communicate primarily via electronic mediums with our clients such as phone, email, and screen share.

We are friendly. As our work is done almost entirely remotely and most all communication is virtual, so we always put a friendly face on all interactions with the client. Every email, every invoice, every spreadsheet. Always.

Qualifications

THE REQUIREMENTS - 5+ years full-charge experience working with QB Online, Xero, including: Job Costing and Reporting, Class/Location/Tracking - Year-end closing entries, 1099 production - Microsoft Word, Excel - Familiarity with Google calendar and documents - Home computer with high-speed internet - Fluent English: well-spoken, and possess strong writing skills - College degree or enrollment in college-level accounting program - Experience and/or willingness to learn Application Integrations such as Hubdoc, Receipt Bank, Bill.com, Shopify, Harvest, etc. - Preference will be given to candidates with Xero experience and/or certification. or Supervisory experience
