Overview

This is probably the weirdest and most important job listing I’ve ever created, so please be patient with the vagaries.

In short, I need someone to turn me into money.

I was a practicing attorney and have since shifted out of the practice to do more writing and consulting. I recently published a book called Lawyer Forward: Finding Your Place in the Future of Law. The book creates a lot of credibility but now people are asking what’s next. I need a business behind that but managing it is a whole other job. I need help making that happen.

I’d like to basically be “the talent” but that means I need management. I need someone who’ll do the legwork to create value out of what’s in my head. I want to then give that person a fair chunk of that value (which we can negotiate). Ways to create new money out of my brain include: speaking gigs; consulting to legal technology companies; consulting to law firms; writing projects; bulk book sales; courses; sponsorships for content efforts; Continuing Legal Education programs; live events…

Really, the list is long. I’ve dipped my toe in many of these and have a pretty good idea of how they can work, but I need help. I need to be able to write and read and think, and I need someone who can bundle that using good design principles. You’d reach out directly to prospective buyers of products you help develop. You’ll then project manage those engagements to make sure they come off without a hitch. You’ll thread the needle of keeping me on task while respecting the “thinking slow” work I need to do with some quiet.

It’s a weird job. It’s flexible and can get as big as you’d like. I expect that soon I’ll be teaching at a law school and my time to manage these things will really be limited, but the work must continue. You can help make that happen. (I can even help you create your own talent management firm with others in the industry so you can leverage my connections and the new ones you’ll create.)

Thank you in advance for looking at this strange posting. I promise I’m every bit as odd as this listing suggests. 😉
