Experienced Tax Accountant (Real Estate & Small Business Focus)

Location: 100% Remote
Hours:
Off-season: ~20 hours/week
Peak season (Feb–April): 40 hours/week
Compensation: $40–$70/hour (commensurate with experience)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced tax professional who can operate with a high level of independence and ownership. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys managing their own workflow, communicating directly with clients, and delivering accurate, timely tax work—especially during high-volume seasons.
This position is designed to buy back leadership time, allowing the firm owner to focus on growth while you confidently manage client deliverables.

You independently manage and complete tax returns with minimal oversight

You contribute to a smooth, efficient tax season for both clients and the internal team
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review tax returns (1120S, 1065, 1120, 1040, 1041)
Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines simultaneously
Work directly with small business and real estate clients
Maintain accurate and organized financial records
Utilize firm technology and systems to streamline workflows
Collaborate with team members when needed while maintaining autonomy

Requirements
5–8+ years of tax preparation experience
Strong experience with business and individual tax returns
Background working with small businesses and/or real estate clients
Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop)
Experience with CCH Axcess (preferred but not required)
Strong working knowledge of tax code (business and personal)
Highly organized with excellent time management skills
Tech-savvy and adaptable to new systems and processes
