My bachelor’s degree is in English, with a minor in marketing. This has taught me to be detail oriented, strong communication skills and well developed computer skills. I have a very strong background in customer service. While working in the insurance industry, I learned how to balance different tasks, assess, price and quote policies. Also I worked with loss control and claims to satisfy our clients needs as quickly as possible. I underwrote Social Service accounts, such as Assisted Living facilities, Head Start programs and Group Homes to name a few. Then moved into the Fitness department while continuing to underwrite accounts.

My previous corporate position was a remote position also. I work well independently and thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to work from home. My children are all in elementary school, therefore I have a flexible daytime schedule to be able to work.

I am a 1996 graduate of Barnard. I graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. My major was theatre.

After college, I stayed in NYC and worked as an actor. I did nationally touring children’s theatre, off-off Broadway plays, television, and film. I also did live demonstrations, and one year Microsoft flew me to Las Vegas to be a presenter at the CES technology convention. I also worked at Fordham Law School as a mock trial witness for students’ final exams.

While simultaneously working as an actor, I worked at a range of “day jobs” for many years. I bring to the table a variety of skills. My first real job after college was as a lab manager in Barnard’s Psychology Department. After that, I worked mostly as a temp, though I did do a three-year stint at the Hearst Corporation as an office manager/executive assistant. I also edited books for various publishing companies, wrote copy for a PR firm, and did long and short-term stints as an administrative assistant all over the city. My last long-term position was at Citibank, mostly planning corporate events and managing guest lists.

Since my first child was born in 2005, I have functioned mostly as a stay-at-home parent to my three children. My older two children have special needs, mostly behavioral-emotional, and I have had to be very hands-on with them. I have also had to spend time advocating and negotiating for their needs with various schools and providers.

I am now planning to transition back into the workforce and I am trying to find a position that will work for me and my family. I am an excellent writer and researcher—these are my greatest skills. I am detail-oriented and computer proficient. I thrive on routine. I am a quick learner, organized, flexible, collaborative, and able to multitask.
