Overview

The Murphy Law Firm is growing quickly and needs to add a contract Legal Case Manager to its team. We are looking for someone with the experience necessary to have a “strategic view” of our caseload to make sure nothing is missed and that tasks like trial preparation are started when needed. In addition, the Legal Case Manager will –

1. Review tasks in MyCase (case management system);

2. Ensure that trial preparation begins on time;

3. Be the watchdog that pushes cases along in the pipeline;

4. Make sure that document review is done in a timely manner (We don’t care for last minute edits!);

5. Make sure that our attorney is ready and has everything she needs for Court;

6. Be sure that our attorney is not burdened with case pipeline questions;

7. Prepare daily report on what is happening and what is being worked on for upcoming cases;

8. Prepare daily report on any backlogs or potential issues/backlogs;

9. Remove the follow-up piece of the puzzle from our attorney’s plate, i.e. if small things come up, you feel capable of stepping in and handling them;

10. Be able to spot and verbalize solutions to variations like discovery deficiencies in an alimony case;

11. Know what to do when calendaring conflicts occur; and,

12. Perform as a backup paralegal for our full-time paralegal (16+ hrs/wk).

This is a virtual position and we anticipate that this position will begin at approximately 25-30 hours/wk and has the potential to become full-time.

We are a fun team that respects each other but who also want to do something meaningful and important. We are professional and serious when the situation warrants it. It is important that you can keep a calm disposition in difficult situations.

This is a contractor (1099) position and the contractor will be responsible for all of his or her taxes and other expenses and determining the weekly schedule.
