Job Overview

We are a brand new program to help our next generation become better global citizens through a better understanding and appreciation of the world’s diverse cultures, country, and people.

We are looking for a dynamic person who is passionate about world cultures, education, kids, and travel, and knows how to bring these to life in unique and entertaining ways through our marketing efforts, particularly with regard to social media, PR, and influencers. The right person loves social entrepreneurship and bringing good into the world in creative and impactful ways.

We have created an extremely fun, energetic, and interactive experience, that evolved from repeated and unsuccessful attempts to find a way for kids to learn about the world in an entertaining, yet informative way. While our mission to improve global citizenship and camaraderie is serious, we do so with a creative and upbeat approach and we’re seeking similarly-minded people.

The most important thing for this position is to be able to connect with our target audience. While our users are kids (app. age 7-13), parents are the decision-makers and we typically find that moms are the primary seekers of such programs for their kids. They are passionate about education, family travel, positive parenting ideas, and social/cultural awareness. We’re looking for someone who shares this mindset and knows how to attract their interest and engage them.

We have just launched and are entirely bootstrapped as we introduce ourselves to the world, so there’s a big challenge to do a lot with a lean budget and limited resources. But we have an amazing product so we’re confident that we’re sitting on something that’s going to be a hit with the right people on board to make it happen.

 

 

Responsibilities

– Manage our Facebook and Instagram accounts. Quality and engagement is more important than volume of posts and size of our follower base, but we definitely want to grow our base steadily. This includes creating and posting content, interacting with followers, and interacting with other social media accounts that are advantageous for us.

– Contact and engage influencers and bloggers in key niches such as family travel and homeschooling. There are also online communities focusing on kids/parents/teachers interests in social studies/geography, raising cultural awareness, global citizenship, and online games. We would like to build relationships and get coverage from any and all such parties.

–  Follow up with current customers to promote referrals and positive word-of-mouth activity.

–  Assist and support other marketing activities such as paid social, PR, and email. We have a very small budget for these so our activity is relatively minor, but as we opportunistically pursue any good ideas or promising leads, it will be all hands on deck.

 

Who You Are

You love the mission to improve global citizenship in our youngest generation and are driven by creating social good in the world. You might have a full-time job and want something that you find meaningful and fun on the side. Or you’re between jobs or taking time off from your career but you have time and energy to contribute to an exciting new product. You also enjoy working with entrepreneurs, producers, actors, and instructional designers who are contributing to the project. And if all goes well, you may have more time in the future as we get traction, investment, and look to build a full team and company!

As for some specifics, you are:

–  Passionate about kids and learning

–  Aware of the need for parents to have positive, quality time together with their children

–  Entrepreneurially-minded, ready to do much with little and hustle to win

–  Fascinated and knowledgeable about world cultures

–  Passionate about our mission to help kids better understand the world’s diverse cultures and people

–  Experienced with social media page and community management

–  A nice-to-have is that you’re currently active in online communities related to family travel, homeschooling, kids education, parenting, etc. Or you have worked somewhere that you’ve had to be active in or with such communities.

 

Other Details

– The position is remote (our current team is in San Diego, Mumbai, London, and Sacramento)

– 15-20 hours per week

– Open immediately, project ends Dec. 31st (extension is possible depending on results)

– Stipend: $1,000/month

One World is an interactive video-based learning program that bring the world to life for children. We believe that societies benefit when their people are exposed to and understand the world beyond their own borders. While our mission is serious, we are creating an extremely fun, energetic, and interactive experience required to win and maintain kids’ attention.
