Part-Time Admin/Coordinator needed for growing midwifery medical billing business:

JOB BRIEF

We are looking for a bright, capable admin to join our team! It is our mission to get midwives covered for maternity care. We specialize in medical billing and advocacy for midwives, providing not only billing services, but patient support so that insurance companies cover basic maternity care when provided by a midwife.

More importantly, we are looking for a brilliant self-starter who enjoys helping others and playing as a team member. Are you someone who loves making lists, organizing in general, and even more – executing tasks so they are accomplished efficiently and effectively? Are you focused on getting things right, especially the details? These are some of the basic skills everyone needs to join our team – along with integrity and a desire to be in a position long-term! This job has the potential to expand into a larger role (full-time), dependent upon the candidate’s ability and execution in the job. Work from home – up-to-date personal computer, fast internet, and secure phone line a must.

Responsibilities include full administrative support of business owners and operations – which involves: answering patient inquiries via email about coverage for maternity care; using the company database to update patient logs and cases to obtain coverage from insurers; following the overall task list and organizing patient information related to authorizations or claims.

To be successful in this role, you must have strong administrative, grammatical/written communication skills, be highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines on your own. Ultimately, you will provide administrative support to the company owner and ensure daily tasks are completed with no loose ends.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1)  Provide administrative support and execute tasks for a business owner
2)  Manage inbox/sort emails
3)  Answer patient inquiries / instruct them on obtaining coverage for midwifery care
4)  Enter patient information into HB database
5)  log payments from patients and set up reminders for upcoming payments
6)  Follow up with insurers on claims submitted for maternity care
7)  Check benefits (call insurers to verify information on coverage) for individual patients
8)  Manage task lists and update systems accurately

REQUIREMENTS

1)  Experience using systems online such as google drive, google docs, navigating online systems (databases)
2)  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
3)  Solid judgment on how to assess sensitive information (familiar with HIPAA guidelines and protecting information)
4)  Solid time-management with judgment to prioritize tasks
5)  Basic problem-solving/critical thinking skills
6)  Prior administrative work experience a must – whether or not for personal or professional background

Ultimately, you will provide full administrative support for the business owner, with an ability to follow through on tasks until completed as instructed. On-the-job training involved – must be able to learn and retain new instruction while improving systems as you go along.

$20 per hour at the start of training with the potential to increase based on ability and execution in the job. The trial period is required (1-3 months). This is a great opportunity to get into a new company that is growing and to help empower women and their choices in birth.
