Hi Betsy!
My name is Katty Flores and I will be applying for the position through the job post on HIremyMom but definitely wanted send my credentials via email as well.
I have administrative and customer service based experience on my resume, however, on a personal level I have created my own site (when I got on a blogging kick, but no longer have it up). Also, grammar is a pet peeve and I love writing in my journal all the time.
When it comes to design interest…don’t. even. Go there! I have been delving into DIY projects at home and have awakened that desire in my children. My daughter’s room is full of paper snowflakes and paintings.
I am seeking to do something very part-time and I think this would be a great fit. I have heard of Squarespace but haven’t used it, myself. I’m familiar with Microsoft Office, finding stock images and of course, uploading documents, etc.
If you believe you’d like to take some time to cross a few words with me, for a few minutes on the phone, I’d love to chat with you and decide whether or not I am the ideal candidate for this position.

As an English instructor of ten years, I’ve had a great deal of opportunity to develop my talents and experience as an editor and as a writer. My primary job as an adjunct instructor of English has been to clarify the writing of others, as well as provide examples of strong, clear, and interesting writing.
As a writer and tutor and as a blogger myself, I’ve worked with WordPress, edited and developed format both using MLA and APA formats (which are academic formats, but are easily adaptable) taught my students how to properly make use of Power point, and how to make all of these more interesting and clear for the sake of other readers.
In addition to teaching, I also have served as an intern for O, The Oprah Magazine when I was in college.

Re: Writing/Editing Position

Dear Dr. Lopez:

To highlight a few pertinent points on my resume, the past 6 years I have served as the House Staff and Student Credentialing Coordinator for University Hospitals. I was responsible for defining the parameters of the position and customizing it to meet the specific needs of University Hospital System; then actively implemented the necessary processes to perform financial, licensure, certification, and administrative functions within the context of the position. My last position was largely taken up by tasks inclusive of managing the day to day needs of the GME for University Hospitals Clements and Zale Lipshy. This includes working with and assisting residents and fellows for all rotating and consult services.

As my resume indicates, I possess more than 20 years of progressive experience. My professional history includes positions such as Human Resource Coordinator for Veritude at Fidelity Investments; Human Resource Director for Entrust; as well as Manager, Analyst, Trainer and Administrator for Verizon.

While I understand that my skills and abilities may be out of scope for the writing/editing you are seeking, I also have been in the administrative field my entire career since 1983. I believe my most recent experience with UT Southwestern may assist in understanding your needs from a medical perspective as well as understanding HIPAA laws.

On a personal note, my husband and I moved to Arizona March 31st. My husband is in the sales business and works all over the West Valley and Phoenix area. It is my desire to find work that enables me to stay at home and be able to contribute financially to our lives.

Dear Client:

I’m redirecting my career at a point in my life when I’ve done all the responsible aspects of adult living. By this statement I mean; I’ve raised my family, and had a career that I’m still good at, but loved the writing aspect more than the accounting. Now I’m ready to do what I love full-time. The career that makes me eager to start each day with delight. I’ve been in love with writing since I was seven years old and it’s only in the past few years that I’ve dedicated myself to my passion full time. I’m talking about a passion that wakes me up in the middle of the night with new ideas that must be put down on paper if I’m to have any rest.

For almost three years, I studied with Marilyn Horowitz; an NYU Professor, a published author, and a movie producer. Learning from her the art of fine tuning a talent for storytelling into a completed novel and how to edit a body of work like a professional. What does all of this mean to you? How can I help you accomplish your goals? I love to write and I’m extremely good at doing research. I’ve seen so many websites, emails, EBooks, and blogs that needed to send their work off to an editor or at the very least a proofreader before they publish. My fiction series currently in the works required almost two and a half years of research on a complexity of subject matters. I can write just about anything on most subjects with the proper research.

Add to the mix that I’ve been a business owner and a financial data analyst. I have a unique point of view and a wealth of knowledge that makes me well versed as a client, an employee, and management. My main desire is to help clients creatively accomplish their goals through written words by providing a fresh pair of eyes and ideas. I’m available to work on such projects as business correspondence, blogs, websites, articles, white pages, fiction and non-fiction books, EBooks, and even speeches.
