To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to apply for the open Virtual Assistant position at Education Treasures. I spent the past four years teaching social studies at the secondary level and have experience working in office settings.

My experience as a high school teacher has prepared me for the demands of the administrative assistant position. The teaching profession requires high levels of self-motivation, attention to detail, and prioritization to create lesson plans and grade papers on a deadline. Lecturing on the same material three times per day entails transforming technical language and jargon into consumable pieces of information that lay individuals can understand, as well as being creative and innovative to make the repetition of teaching the same subject interesting for both myself and my students. Likewise, as a teacher, I have found ways to be productive at all times of the day and in varying settings.

In addition to my teaching career, I also worked in the office of the Dean of Education at East Carolina University. There, I spent considerable time collecting and entering test data, responding to emails and phone calls, and prioritizing tasks in an effort to remain organized.

Teaching and writing have made me fluent in a range of computer applications. I have experience working with both Mac and PC operating systems, on which I gained proficiency using Microsoft Office. I also have used Google Apps and am willing to learn computer languages if needed. I am eager to learn new ways to increase productivity using the newest computer technology.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon to schedule an interview.
