Hello! My name is Kate Shore, and I am writing in regards to the transcription position you posted on HireMyMom.com. I just submitted my resume through the website, but wanted to to let you know a little more about me and my experience. I think that my strong organization skills, my ability to stay focused and work independently, as well as my experience with transcribing audio files make me a great fit for your team.

My background is truly a mix of creative and logical work experiences. I have a BFA in Theatre Design and Production, and have spent several years working as a scenic artist, painting scenery and props for theatres and theme parks. However, I am also extremely organized, and I truly enjoy doing paperwork, data entry, and creating color-coded Excel sheets. This unique mix of right and left-brained thinking has allowed me to thrive in a variety of work environments and to communicate well with different types of people. Last year, I began transcribing audio and video files as a freelancer for Rev.com, where I have maintained a score of 4.9 out of 5 for accuracy and 4.7 out of 5 for formatting.

A bit more about me:
• I have common sense, and I pick up on things quickly.
• I enjoy following the rules and adhering to procedures, but can also go with the flow and am constantly looking for more efficient ways to complete tasks.
• I don’t enjoy being bored, and am happy to jump in and help with whatever tasks need to get done.
• I grew up in Charlotte, NC and now live just outside of Orlando, Florida.
• I am interested in a part-time position with somewhat flexible hours.

I saw your ad for the Business Transcriptionist on HireMyMom.com and would like to apply for the position. I have over 20 years experience, working in administration both in the corporate world and for small business owners. My last position was completely virtual for a small business owner and their team, so I am no stranger to working remotely.

I have been typing transcription for over 10 years whilst in various positions. Those included: as a paralegal, Executive Assistant, and Virtual Assistant.

Diligence and attention to detail in every task is one of my greatest strengths and has ensured that I have never missed a deadline.

Transcription has become a passion and a privilege as a way to continue learning. The pleasure of transcription is not only seeing the task completed but be able to learn about different industries, experiences, and technologies.

During my years as a journalist, I spent much of my time transcribing interviews. I understand the importance of accuracy as well as meeting strict deadlines. I am accustomed to transcribing audio as efficiently as possible.

I have several years of transcription experience in the specialized fields of legal, medical and financial as well as a broad range of general topics. My production typing speed is over 80 w.p.m. with 99% accuracy rating. Having previously edited high level executive documents and medical journal articles and submissions earlier in my career, I possess advanced training and experience in English grammar and punctuation.
The current project of approximately 4.5 hours of clear audio could be completed in a couple of days. My current availability would allow me to commence as early as Tuesday evening.
