Rachael’s Cover Letter

To Whom It May Concern:

I graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Earth Science and a minor in Geology. I have learned an exponential amount of information during my four years of study at an institution of higher education. During my four years, I have not only learned about the environment, but I have had experience with various computer programs, including ArcGIS and Microsoft Office Suite. I am very good at keeping organized and on task. I worked the Customer Service desk at Giant Eagle in Rices Landing, PA for three years which gave me a large amount of experience in working with the public, improving my customer service skills, and learning how to multitask at an efficient pace. During those three years, I handled sales within the store and also customer complaints. I also handled processes such as answering the phone, working the fax and copier machine, keeping things in order, and cashing checks. I also helped the managers to manage the cashiers on duty and money process’s behind the customer service desk.

I then worked as a Front Office Associate for the Instacare located in Waynesburg, PA. I quickly learned the processes of working in a fast paced, medical office. I have knowledge of medical terminology. During this time I was in charge of checking patients in, taking co-pays, billing insurance claims, scanning medical records into the system, answering the phone, and keeping the front area organized. I was promoted to Charge Entry Clerk in the physician billing office within a matter of eight months and was trained on the billing system. I learned how to process insurance claims, bill physician charges, and helped to keep the physician offices up to date on billing procedures. I am currently self employed for a part time weekend position as an Organist and the Junior Choir Director for St. Hugh and Our Lady of Consolation Parishes in Carmichaels, PA. My responsibilities for this job include coordinating, cantoring, and playing music during mass on the weekend. I also direct and teach elementary aged students how to sing hymns. Annually, I coordinate and direct the Vacation Bible School and Christmas Programs. I am also employed part time as a Medical Biller for Dr. Donley’s, Internal Medicine Office, located in Waynesburg, PA. As a medical biller, I am responsible for submitting all medical claims to insurance companies, posting adjustments and payments, medical records, and confirming patient appointments for the following day.

My education and employment opportunities have given me a variety of different skills that I am able to utilize. I am a quick learner who can multitask at an efficient pace. I work well with the public, I am people oriented, and I am able to work alone and within a group. I am more than willing to take any additional training in order to make me fully qualified for this position. I look forward to further discussing my qualifications with you. I have also attached a current resume. I can be reached by email, rachael_pratt@ymail.com, or by phone at (724) 833-0082.
