Psychological Assistant

Dear Dr. Cooper Lopez October 15, 2015

I am interested in applying for the Psychological Assistant role at Cooper Lopez and Associates. I am an educator, with a Masters Degree in Psychology and Counseling, who is pursuing a new career path following a family move out of state. I bring with me a wealth of experience as a Teacher, Program Director and Counselor. Over the past 16 years I have proven to be efficient and organized, willing and able to take great initiative in my work.

I spent the last thirteen years working as the Program Director at a growing private, Independent School on Chicago’s north side. Playing an integral role in the rapid growth of our school community was not only exciting, but enabled me to develop skills that will continue to serve me well on my new professional journey. Defining the role, I developed systems geared toward achieving efficiency in our work and marketing plans aimed at attracting new, and retaining current, families. My graduate work in the field of counseling helped me increase my effectiveness in communication with colleagues, the staff I managed, and the families who came to me with concerns or for solutions to their problems. I have very strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

I am quick learner and am confident that I will prove both capable and comfortable learning your practice’s needs and the ways in which I can be of support. My experience in the counseling and education realm offers me a familiarity with some of the language in the reports I might edit. Working in education, I often read student assessments and evaluations. I developed an understanding of the language within them, and of course, a true appreciation of the importance for confidentiality.

I am excited about the opportunity my family’s move has provided for me in regard to redefining my professional path and feel that this role would be a great fit for me. I will be able to draw on my existing skills, and develop a new set as well.

I look forward to speaking with you soon and learning more about the Psychological Assistant role at Cooper Lopez and Associates.
