Peak Cover Letter

Hi Mr. Dickey,
Your recent job posting for a Bookkeeper & Operations Assistant has piqued my interest!
Right now, my “day job” is as an accountant at a healthcare organization, and then I moonlight as an online bookkeeper for a small accounting consulting firm, with the ultimate goal of being able to fully work from home.
I have close to five years of accounting experience, an MS in Accountancy, and current experience as an online QBO bookkeeper. Throughout my career, I’ve done various account, credit card, and bank reconciliations. For the past three years, I’ve been actively involved in budgeting at Sutter, as well as external reporting for taxes and various governmental surveys. While I was a Senior Accountant at Enterprise, I was heavily involved in accounts payable and receivables. While I don’t have experience in everything you’re asking right now (such as payroll), I’m confident in my ability to learn the tasks quickly.
On the tech side, I have a solid knowledge of QBO, Excel, and other software that may or may not be used by small business. At every job I’ve had, I’ve needed to learn multiple new and sometimes counter-intuitive programs on the fly. I’ve been able to do so mostly independently and rather efficiently.
Over the course of the last five years, I have developed a strong basis in accrual accounting and financial analysis. I also have many of the “soft” skills necessary to learn and excel at the position responsibilities: ability to learn, attention to detail, highly organized, analytical skills, excellent communication, customer-centric thinking, positivity, etc. In my opinion, the soft skills are what would potentially set me apart from other applicants. I believe that I would be a great asset to your company.
I would love the opportunity to talk more about the position.
Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you.
Jenna Torres
