Logistics and Business Ops Cover Letter
Over the past 20 years, I have had the opportunity to work at all levels of non-profit management. Beginning my career at the American Royal as a marketing intern handling sponsorships, marketing collateral and events, I learned so much from managing projects, volunteers and donors at the most tactical level. Within JDRF, I spent my first 9 years working at the local Kansas City Chapter of JDRF, advancing from a special events coordinator to an associate executive director. Within these roles, I was engaged in strategic and operational planning, responsible for the success of the core fundraising programs (inclusive of all corporate, individual and significant gifts), communications and management of both staff and volunteers. At the regional level, I have provided direct leadership and support to all sizes of markets – from large to micro. I was able to continually progress within JDRF because of my abilities to successfully grow programs and funding; develop dynamic staff and volunteer teams and most importantly, engage people in our mission.
This summer, my position with JDRF was eliminated during the most recent reorganization. While unfortunate, this change has provided me with the opportunity to consider my next professional journey. I know I still want to somehow “help people†and work for a dynamic company with passionate leadership. I am also ready for a change of pace and would also like to have more work-life balance (I traveled extensively for the last 9 years). This role and your company seem like a great fit.
I recognize my resume may not translate well, but I left it intact so that you could see the breadth of experience in managing relationships – which is my best asset. Within these roles, I worked extensively managing vendor relations (including overall project management, product logistics, RFPs and vendor selection, payment management, etc.), handled logistics and various business processes and ensured overall operations ran smoothly. I am extremely detailed oriented and do nothing less than 110%.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this position in more detail.
Thank you once again for your consideration.
