Journalist with eCommerce Experience

Dear Mr. Lukauskas,
Where else can you find a former journalist with national experience who also has experience in eCommerce?
For the past five years, I’ve run an online party supply business, dealing mainly in consumables such as paper straws, baking liners and party favor bags. Over these past five years, I’ve written thousands of product profiles for my own (now defunct) domain, Etsy, and Amazon.com.
My name is Rachel Mosteller, and I am applying for the technical writer position with Crowd Control Direct Inc. Besides my five years in e-commerce, I also have eight years’ experience in journalism. Prior to opening my own business, I wrote for a variety of national publications, including The New York Times and USA Today.
My background in e-commerce has made me extremely detail-oriented and organized. When dealing with large amounts of inventory (not to mention taxes and paperwork), I’ve found it is very important to have systems set in place to keep things running smoothly. I’ve also learned the importance of having all the pertinent info in each listing. I understand that many people will not ask a question, but just move on when they can’t find the answer in a short period of time.
As a journalist, I spoke with new people all the time. It was my job to make them feel comfortable as I asked them questions for my stories. My experience with tight deadlines also helped me with time management skills. I enjoy meeting and working with new people and am happiest when I’m helping others.
I feel my combination of journalist and online business owner makes me a strong candidate for the technical writer position. I would love the chance to speak with you more about this opportunity. Please do let me know if I can answer any questions you might have about my background experience.
I thank you in advance, and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best wishes,
Rachel Mosteller
