Gramercy Kitchen Co Cover Letter

Dear Ms. Mills,
I would like to be considered for the position of Administrative/Virtual assistant for Gramercy Kitchen Co. I believe I will be a great addition to the company. My background is very diverse as I have had the opportunity to work in different companies and fields. I am a very organized person and a self-starter. I work well independently once I know what goals need to be reached.
I do have an interest in cooking and consider myself a â€œfoodie.â€ I grew up in San Francisco and have been able to taste and eat the various foods from the diverse restaurants in the area. I spent two years living in Spain, right outside of Barcelona and was able to experience the food culture there by living like a local, buying produce from the local markets, cooking at home, and learning how to make paella and other Spanish dishes. I also had time to travel to other parts of Spain and Europe, including San Sebastian, one of the best cities in the world to eat, Paris, London, etc. When I had the time and money, I had the chance to eat in some of the best restaurants in the world including The French Laundry and El Cellar de Can Roca. Now as a stay at home mom, I cook for my family and try to think of dishes that my toddler, my husband and I can all enjoy. In my spare time, I watch foodie shows such as Top Chef.
Though my primary background is in the sciences, I have had positions that are non-science related and in many jobs, I had to learn how to use their custom programs quickly. I was a Procurement Officer at the British Embassy for six months. During my time at the British Embassy, I quickly became familiar with how the Foreign Commonwealth Office and procurement worked, despite not having a finance or procurement background. I quickly learned how to use their Oracle-based program and within a few months was even training new users how to use it. In addition, I worked at the American Association of Museums as their Temporary Registration Assistant. I assisted in registering museums and museum staff for their annual conference. I showed initiative and efficiency at the job. After the conference was over, they invited me back to be an Office Assistant, helping out different departments. I performed various administrative duties for the Vice Presidents as well as assisted the Executive Assistant to the President.
