Dear Ms. Mills,

I would like to be considered for the position of Administrative/Virtual assistant for Gramercy Kitchen Co. I believe I will be a great addition to the company. My background is very diverse as I have had the opportunity to work in different companies and fields. I am a very organized person and a self-starter. I work well independently once I know what goals need to be reached.

I do have an interest in cooking and consider myself a “foodie.” I grew up in San Francisco and have been able to taste and eat the various foods from the diverse restaurants in the area. I spent two years living in Spain, right outside of Barcelona and was able to experience the food culture there by living like a local, buying produce from the local markets, cooking at home, and learning how to make paella and other Spanish dishes. I also had time to travel to other parts of Spain and Europe, including San Sebastian, one of the best cities in the world to eat, Paris, London, etc. When I had the time and money, I had the chance to eat in some of the best restaurants in the world including The French Laundry and El Cellar de Can Roca. Now as a stay at home mom, I cook for my family and try to think of dishes that my toddler, my husband and I can all enjoy. In my spare time, I watch foodie shows such as Top Chef.

Though my primary background is in the sciences, I have had positions that are non-science related and in many jobs, I had to learn how to use their custom programs quickly. I was a Procurement Officer at the British Embassy for six months. During my time at the British Embassy, I quickly became familiar with how the Foreign Commonwealth Office and procurement worked, despite not having a finance or procurement background. I quickly learned how to use their Oracle-based program and within a few months was even training new users how to use it. In addition, I worked at the American Association of Museums as their Temporary Registration Assistant. I assisted in registering museums and museum staff for their annual conference. I showed initiative and efficiency at the job. After the conference was over, they invited me back to be an Office Assistant, helping out different departments. I performed various administrative duties for the Vice Presidents as well as assisted the Executive Assistant to the President.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Tiffany Tam
