Dear Michelle,

I was excited to find your post seeking an editor with a passion for women’s issues. I’m a life coach and I write articles that help empower people and provide tools and tips to make practical changes. I have been supporting solopreneurs (yoga teacher, coaches) as a virtual assistant for several years and I’m excited for the possibility to find a writing position where I can use my talent and skills to support a socially conscious organization that’s making a difference in people’s lives.

As a virtual assistant for one-woman entrepreneurs, I have worn many hats; I’ve edited articles and newsletters, created and managed content for social media, managed a global online summit, and so much more. As I mentioned, I also write articles about self-empowerment for my website as well as other publications and I feel excited at the prospect of contributing my writing skills to an organization with a worthy cause.

I very much resonate with the work you do with empowering girls and women, since much of my life is also dedicated to self-empowerment and creating a more loving, just, and harmonious world. Aside from being a big sister mentor with Big Brothers & Big Sisters of NYC, I have not worked specifically for women’s issues before (though I’ve had the desire to do so) so I will be delighted for the opportunity to contribute to an organization with a cause that’s close to my heart.

Please feel free to peruse some of my writing on my website at iamblissyoga.com.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review my resume and consider me for the editor position. You can reach me with any questions by emailing me at say.kubo@gmail.com or call me at 646-250-8613. I’m looking forward to connecting with you. Thank you.

Warm regards,

Say Kubo

For five years in college and the three years since graduation, I have worked in the journalism field in a variety of capacities. As such, I have honed my editing capabilities to help create clean and impactful copy. Until recently, I worked as an editor at daily newspaper that also published around 15 special sections a year. Thanks to my background in journalism, I understand the importance of both efficiency and am accustomed to working under deadline.

In addition, I have a degree in creative writing. I have experience workshopping works with other writers and identify the great parts and helping work out places that may be a little unpolished. I have also studied many aspects of the novel and how all the elements come together to make a successful work. I have read a variety of works and have a well-developed understanding of what makes a book great.

Hi, Mr. Millar. I’m extremely interested in the editor opportunity with jmonlineproducts. I have 31+ years as a writer and editor; in my previous job (as a technical editor for an engineering company), I often had to edit materials for people whose native languages were Chinese and Spanish, in particular. Therefore, I’m well aware of the written language difficulties that can arise. I’m looking for a flexible position — I can edit press releases every day (as you mentioned in the job announcement), but some days it might need to be during evening hours. I hope to hear from you soon to discuss this position further (334-546-8198 or vpotter.js1@gmail.com). Thanks.
Sincerely, Victoria Potter
