I am writing to express my interest in the writing position you have posted on hiremymom.com. While I have a degree in writing and manage a personal blog, my recent work has been in administrative, marketing, and business development.
I havenâ€™t written very many professional articles recently. I primarily manage my own personal blog. 4 years ago, while working at a military medical facility, I did write an article for the hospital newspaper and I wrote and edited several pamphlets and brochures while there. I currently work as a stay-at-home mom and Iâ€™ve essentially been in this position for a year. Before deciding to stay home with my daughter, I worked as an Administrative and Business Development Coordinator at a high profile law firm. I was tasked with maintaining newsletters, assisting with events, editing pitches and proposals, designing brochures and booklets, contacting clients, and tracking practice group expenditures. I also was in charge of a lot of design work for internal events. I created posters, invitations, flyers and other graphic materials that occasionally required some handwritten details. A lot of my work was done using Microsoft Word, Publisher and PowerPoint.
I am a fast learner with a strong work ethic and I am willing to put in the time to get more familiar with the types of articles you need written and the kind of content you want created. I also consider myself a highly creative person and could be relied on for additional projects outside of writing if needed (i.e. designing simple marketing materials or creating informative PowerPoints). My schedule currently allows me about 3 hours of free time during the day, so I plan on working mostly in the evenings and on the weekends if allowed.
