Re: Virtual Assistant

Dear Ms. Scott:

I was excited to see your opening on HireMyMom.com for a part-time, Administrative/Virtual Assistant. Currently I am a stay-at-home mom who is eager to get back into a professional role.

My background is immersed in education and customer service, beginning with a Bachelor’s degree in English, with a concentration in writing. I began my professional journey working at WGBH Educational Foundation, the public television station in Boston, MA, scheduling PBS records and pre and post-production work. For over ten years after that I worked my way up in the Undergraduate Admissions Office at Framingham State (College) University, beginning as the Coordinator for Student of Color Recruitment until I served as the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Admissions. I recruited and selected prospective freshman applicants from across Massachusetts, as well as Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. On campus I recruited, selected, trained and monitored a staff of ten to fifteen college students to give weekly campus tours.

In addition to this experience, I have spent the last seven years volunteering in my children’s elementary school. In my role as the Chairperson for the Scholastic book fairs, I recruit and schedule a crew of volunteers for two fairs per academic year. Making appropriate grade-level book selections for students, running a register and finalizing the final financial report are just a few of the duties associated with this position. At the same time I have also been a member of Ted. (Tantasqua Education Foundation), a program that affords teachers grants to bring innovative programs into their classrooms. The variety of tasks and projects I am responsible for throughout the year requires multi-tasking, planning and organization.

I am a detail-oriented person with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. I work well independently and as a member of a team. With all of my children in school full time I have a flexible home schedule that will allow me the time to focus on your needs. I am confident I possess the qualities you are looking for in a virtual assistant.

I look forward to discussing my candidacy for this position. You may reach me at (781)727-3510 (cell) or (508)347-5045 (home) to arrange an interview. I look forward to learning more about this opportunity!

Thank you for your time,

Heather V. Adamson
