Alyssa Lane Cover Letter

To Whom It May Concern:

I was excited to see your posting for a Transcriptionist.

My background includes several years of experience in working with various speech, hearing, and articulation disorders, along with earning my Bachelor’s in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from the University of North Texas. My most recent experience as an Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant was with a home health company in Houston.

In this position, I demonstrated many abilities that are related to the field of Transcription. Articulation Therapy involves focus and intense listening abilities, to be able to accurately transcribe a child’s errors for documentation and in order to treat appropriately. I’ve have extensive training and experience using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) to transcribe both normal and disordered speech. Expressive and Receptive Language Therapy involves the same level of attention to speech. Documentation was a major part of my responsibilities, and every therapy session was meticulously documented, with client utterances from word level to conversational level being transcribed with precision and accuracy for the benefit of the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist and the insurance companies we billed to. Timeliness and accuracy of these documents was of the utmost importance. I believe that my extensive background in theses skills would be useful in the area of Transcriptions of various types of media.

Other responsibilities included planning therapy sessions and activities to address the goals provided by my supervisor; implementing these plans and providing therapy to children from birth to 17 years; coordinating and maintaining client schedules; coordinating communication between clients and supervisor; providing caregiver education. I would have anywhere from four to twelve therapy sessions per work day.

Feel free to call me at 214-250-8543 (cell) or email me at anlane91@gmail.com to arrange an interview. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to learning more about this opportunity!

Sincerely,
Alyssa Lane
