My 20 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience, coupled with excellent organizational skills and background with a not-for-profit school district, might be of interest to you in regard to the Accountant/Bookkeeper position you are currently recruiting for.

I have a passion for bookkeeping/accounting, and my meticulous organizational skills are crucial to providing accurate and timely outcomes for all facets of full charge bookkeeping. I spent eight years as the Chief Business Official for a California-State County Office of Education (not a true 501(c)(3) “non-profit”, but rather a public agency with many of the same type accounting issues as a non-profit organization). This was a management position with hands-on accounting, which has provided me with all the skills necessary to assume the overall bookkeeping responsibilities at Yay4Life!, coupled with the unique perspective of seeing the bigger picture from a more administrative angle. I have extensive experience in all the areas you seek in an accountant/bookkeeper, and have had great success in preparing clear, easy to understand financial reports for the Board of Education (including PowerPoint presentations). I am confident my strengths in communication, problem solving, and flexibility to adjust for shifts in priorities would meet or exceed your organization’s objectives. Finally, I am a self-starter with high energy and outstanding time management skills.

My qualifications include extensive training for California school accounting, which is based on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and would transfer well to the non-profit sector. I am experienced in QuickBooks and am certain that I could quickly transition to the Nonprofit Premier version. Several years ago I was responsible for implementing a new accounting software system for our agency, and quickly adapted to an entirely new system with minimal training. I am confident that I would quickly manage any learning curve for the Nonprofit Premier version on my own time.
